Make-up is something that interests me. I get excited whenever a new shade and formula of make-up products are release. I binge-watch people like Michelle Phan, Judy Travis, and a lot more YouTubers create different looks using make-up. Despite it all, I am one of that lipstick-blush-kind of girl. I might have acquired a few tips from these beauty gurus but trust me, I can only execute a thing or two right. Just recently, I finally added mascara on my kit. Eyeliner is still a struggle. I always end up doing a thicker line than what I intend to have.
This is the reason why when Mhaan Arambulo of The Beauty Avenue by Mhaan announced of having a make-up workshop for mommies at Hotel Benilde, I immediately signed-up. I always wanted to study professional make-up but I think workshops like this will do for now. I learned so much watching Mhaan and other moms do the “magsusundo sa school” look which we all jokingly named our finished look that day.

Me before the workshop.
Brows
Since I have naturally bushy brows, Mhaan recommended using brow mascara over eyebrow pencil. After a few strokes, I finished up with a spoolie for that more plakado look.
Make-up tip from Mhaan:
- Use the pencil trick to get your ideal brow shape.
- Choose a color at least 2 shades lighter than your hair for your brow.
Eyes
One of my struggles with putting on make-up is my eyes. This is because I have hooded eyes according to Mhaan. Hooded eyes’ crease is hidden underneath the upper part of the lid. This is the reason why eyeshadow disappears when I open my eyes.
Make-up tip from Mhaan:
- Bring the eyeshadow color higher than your actual crease. Blend, blend, blend to avoid any harsh lines.
- Use primer to make your eyeshadow last.
Lashes
This is the best part of the workshop because I discovered a new product that I really liked. The Loreal Lash Paradise. It gives a falsies effect without even having one.
Make-up tip from Mhaan:
- Don’t forget to put on some mascara on the lower lashes too! It adds a different vibe to the total look.

My new fave! Loreal Lash Paradise.
Cheeks
I had the mistake of putting on too much blush because I want to look like blushing. It was a rookie mistake as I intend for people to notice me, not my blush.
Make-up tip from Mhaan:
- A little goes a long way.
- We use make-up to showcase your real beauty, not the other way around.
Lips
I have very dry and flaky lips. And I admit it is not the most flattering look when your lipstick is flaking and your lips are chapped.
Make-up tip from Mhaan:
- Exfoliate and moisturize lips.
Face
I don’t normally use foundation because I notice I tend to breakout. However, even if I am going for the natural look, I also do not want to appear oily.
Make-up tip from Mhaan:
- Use BB cream for a more natural look. Test products that are organic and see what works best for your skin.
- For a more natural look, you may use a powder foundation.
And the end result…

Tada! After the workshop.
This look is a thousand times better than my previous attempts at putting on make-up. I think I’m ready for a more avant-garde look. What do you think?
