Sometimes, we do not need a hundred pages of a book to make us realize things about life. All it takes is a one liner from a friend, a mentor or yes, instagram.
I’m sure there are a lot more than 14, but the quotes on this list surely made an impact on me and I personally think they hit the point.
On teaching independence:
“Where parents do too much for their children, the children will not do much for themselves.” – Elbert Hubbard

“Call them rules or call them limits, good ones, I believe, have this in common: they serve reasonable purposes; they are practical and within a child’s capability; they are consistent; and they are an expression of loving concern.” – Fred Rogers
On being a role model:
“Whatever you would have your children become, strive to exhibit in your own lives and conversation.” – Lydia H. Sigourney

“To be in your children’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today.” – Barbara Johnson
On molding character:

‘Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression’ – Haim Ginott
“There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots, the other, wings” – Hodding Carter
On giving encouragement:
“I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it” – Harry S. Truman
“Parents need to fill a child’s bucket of self-esteem so high that the rest of the world can’t poke enough holes to drain it dry” – Alvin Price
There is no perfect formula in parenting. And we will never be the perfect parents we hope we can be. Following these parenting quotes will never guarantee us perfect children either. But one thing that can make a parent rise up through this challenge, is the fact that God’s grace will fill in our human insufficiencies.
